Westman Communications Group (WCG) is pleased to announce that their Board of Directors has appointed Dr. Tim Berube as the new President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective March 28, 2022. Berube will assume the leadership role as current President & CEO Dave Baxter transitions into retirement after 26 years with the organization.

Berube brings a wealth of expertise to WCG, which spans the areas of global leadership, executive management, governance, business development, operations, sales, marketing, engineering, project management, adjudication, and consulting.

“WCG looks forward to welcoming Tim as our incoming President & CEO,” said Jason Roblin, Board of Directors Chair at WCG. “Tim’s experience encompasses a range of positions within the public and private sectors coupled with various positions within the telecommunications industry, providing him with a well-rounded foundation to lead the strategic direction of our team.”

Berube’s 25 years of experience started with the Canadian Forces. During his career abroad, he was Vice-President and General Manager for the broadband communications firm Arris International in Tokyo, Japan. Upon repatriating to Canada, he founded Ben Berube Holdings International, an organization offering domestic and international consultancy services. More recently, he has served on the Board of Directors with the Northwest Local Health Integration Network under Ontario’s Ministry of Health and Long-term Care. He is currently a Commissioner with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission.

“I am honoured to become the next President & CEO of Westman Communications Group,” said Berube. “I look forward to serving our cooperative members and the communities in which WCG operates as we move forward with our vision of enabling communications services within our region.”

Fueled by a passion for learning, Berube has also received various degrees and diplomas, which encompass an Electronic Technologist diploma, a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical), a Master of Business Administration (International), a Master of Science (Leadership), and a Doctor of Philosophy (Metaphysical Sciences).

“The Board of Directors would like to thank outgoing President & CEO, Dave Baxter, for his leadership over the last 26 years. In the rapidly changing telecommunications industry, he has led his team to provide all our communities and many new previously underserved communities with industry-leading Internet services. We wish him our very best on his well-deserved retirement,” adds Roblin. “Tim’s leadership will continue to drive our focus on providing an exceptional member experience as we look forward to completing our planned network enhancements and community expansions.”

WCG’s Board CEO Succession Committee retained MNP, a leading national executive search firm, to assist in its search process.
